Chapter 3

The Faith of a Squire, the Faith of the Code and Order

I learned much in my time in the guild as a squire. I learned to
provide healing both through my faith and through the use of the
aid of herbs and bandages. I learned of faith and the strength
that it provides you if you believe fully. The guildmaster told
me of the Goddess Azorinne and her acts of judgment and mercy.
It was these words that set me on the path to seek her out and
continue learning to change from the the raising that I had from
my parents. I began to believe entirely in the ways of the code
of the paladins, but also the knowledge that I had of the Goddess.
For the first time since my parents disowned me, I began to feel
like I was not alone in the world.

Thinking of the ways of the code of the paladins, I began to find
that an important part of my life would be following rules and
laws. Only in this orderly way of thinking could I find a path
that was true to myself and my faith. I determined that I would
become a Magistrate so that I could continue the work I started
in my hometown of Akan and to be the merciful shield that would
protect the innocent who only sought safety and prosperity in the
lives of themselves and their kin.
