Thunderhammer No More?

The day I entered my name into the rolls of the paladin guild
was the day that I was disowned from the Thunderhammer clan.
I had determined that I was going to be the shield for the weak
and the innocent, but to do so with honor and duty as the most
important part of my life. My family had shown that they did
not truly care about the honor that is required between dwarven
people. The guild showed me that there was an importance in
service that is merciful and that doing so is a powerful thing
that can lead others into a better way of life. Protecting the
others of the world was more important than the glory of the war.
My parents, obviously, did not agree. They screamed at me, they
beat me with their fists and I stood there and took it. I would
not strike back at my parents as I still loved them even if they
were misguided in their beliefs. What I learned, though, was
that my family only cared for themselves and their blows were the
proof to me as I walked away from my home with tears streaming
down my cheeks and into my beard. No matter what they said or
did to me, though, I would always carry with me the Thunderhammer
name. Perhaps one day, they might be proud of me.
