Role

Chapter 1

A mundane life in the Loch and growing up a playright Hero

Rorhus is actually a quite mundane storm giant. He is the son of two
prominent but not too prominent, middle to middle and maybe upper but
mostly middle class storm giant merchant parents. He grew up in the Loch
with many of the storm giant kind there. There he spent most of his time
doing less than stellar things as life there was boring. Yes, sometimes
raiding parties would come, but they would mostly pick on the veterans
of the Loch, those war-weary giants. They were always being attacked but
for everyone else, life was normal and boring.

Rorhus dreamed of having greatness within him, but his lot in life meant
he was not to be on the council, nor a high up in the Loch guard, nor
honestly anything but a mundane merchant selling fish to other cities
and villages. He was a fish mongering storm giant of low-repute. Even
those within the Loch who were of his own social class looked down on
him for his family tattoo across his brow and his endless smelling of,
you guessed it, fish.

Rorhus greatly disliked how he was treated and not seen as the most
glorious storm giant alive. He spent endless hours in his childhood,
which was mundane mostly, at the dramatic plays and stage there in
Loch. There he saw plays of greatness with subject matter of heroes
that go out into the world and gain fame, fortune, and greatness
through great acts of kindness, sacrifice, and courage!

He watched these plays religiously and the dramatic nature of them
dribbled into his own personality. He started crafting himself and
his mannerisms after the heroes in these plays. He starts to speak
in robust and flowery terms, as if he is continually upon a stage
and acting out a role of his own.

AUTHORS NOTE: Rorhus is not deceiving in this regard, and while
chaotic in nature, this constant presence in his life of plays
and hero worship has made his personality what it is. So do not
believe it is deception or fakeness, this is truly who he is.
A storm giant of mild repute seeking to be great and learning
the only way to be great (and act genuinely great) is through
examples he has seen in plays, so he is growing up trying to
be great and be all that he has seen. Is he faking it to make
it? Is he confused and does not know his true self? Maybe
this is simply who is true self has turned into after his child
has passed. Time will only tell.
