The Thirst - Part 2

The humanoid feline creatures innate caution and predatory instincts
made her circle only once before she pounced the three unsuspecting
adventurers in her ambush. Not a virgin to the taste of magic mixed with
blood, she went for the armed warriors first, her ears laid back and
monitoring the yet-to-come incantations of the startled mage apprentice.
Before the first warrior could raise his weapon, she was at his throat
and tearing her claws savagely into the life giving veins of his neck
where his armor left him unprotected. The other warrior came in fast
with his club and she instinctively brought the claws extending from her
paws backwards and batted it away and out of his hands.

As the club went skittering away from the light of the meager fire, she
leaped in its direction with a mighty pounce. Thinking the feline
creature went for his weapon, the foolish second warrior chased into the
darkness after his club. He could not have known that the feline
creature lacked all ability to bring such weapons to wrought, but he
should have known that no such weapons were needed after the death of his
warrior companion. Having only left the light to prepare another pounce,
the feline creature turned in ambush and brought death to the warrior who
treaded into the darkness of her domain

The mage now in his shock began the incantations of a spell, but he
stuttered and stopped. The feline creature circled in the darkness
beyond the light, giving him time to manage the fear and start his spell
again. She wanted the magic to be on his tongue, awakening and explosive
as she tore at him and consumed him entirely. It was more satisfying,
more fulfilling, and always... always... better that way.
