Fleeing and failing

When Matusquella awoke, he did not know where he was or what had happened.
He was in a kind of depression, and it was only when he left that he saw the
decapitated body of his friend Benzze that he knew he was in danger. The two
had fled from the small village where they lived under the orders from their
mayor to not be captured by the kidnappers. These people came from time to
time in the village, took two or three children and they were never seen again.
The mayor, wanting to save his son, asked Matusquella to guide him to the next
village. They were not lucky. They were followed and Matusquella only survived
because he fell into the depression.

Fearful and cold, Matusquella returned to the village to tell what happened to
the mayor. How surprised was he when he saw his village destroyed, the mayor
hanged in the only square of the town. The only survivor, the local teacher,
told what happened: Finding no children in the city, they burned everything
and everyone. The village was no longer of any use to them. These monsters were
wizards who used children in their experiences because they possessed a more
open and receptive mind.

Now beyond fear and cold, he was very angry. Not knowing where to go, he took
a turn and walked for days until he reached Silverwood. From there to Galadon
it was a jump, and it was there that he began to work out a way to get revenge
on those magicians. And all of them.
