Jerrler Rockworm: Beginnings and Inspiration
Added Fri Jun 15 04:30:55 2018 at level 51:

Jerrler Rockworm was a young and promising svirfneblin guardsman. A student
of war and history from the beginning, as most svirfneblin and gnomes care
intimately about such academic pursuits.

He formed his own opinions early on. Enjoying the natural way of rocks, and
not understanding why Lower Cragstone needed to employ enchanters or rock
magi to augment the Underdark, create elementals, or what have you. To him,
the stones were flawed and perfect all at once.

He eventually was a member of the Svirfneblin border patrols. They dealt with
rockworms, the rogue cavefishers, vagabond dark-elves, and various dangers of
the Underdark. However, he became jaded. It seemed like every other week
there was a report of one of the enchanters causing self imposed wounds to
his comrades. A collapsed cavern here, a rogue earth elemental there.

Finally, disaster struck for Jerrler's own patrol. An enchanter caused a
cavern to fall on them as they attempted to subdue a rockworm. Jerrler and
the mage were the last survivors and Jerrler grabbed his swords and
decapitated the enchanter then and there. This was the last straw, he
decided. The mage wasn't even necessary. He and his men could have easily
dealt with the rockworm in traditional fashion.
