Chapter 7

Meeting Jormyr
Added Wed May 27 21:19:37 2020 at level 51:

She spied the thief standing around out in the open in the middle of the
Emerald Forest. Odd, but she was no friend to rogues. She swept down
and savagely pecked at his eyes before twisting into that of the tiger.
Unfortunately for her, in her zeal to taste the thief's blood she
completedly missed the frosty form of Jormyr standing there with him.

Standing over Dershym's corpse she suddenly became aware of a presence
beside her. A menacing presence. Realizing who it was, she uttered a
hasty (and inadequate) excuse before taking wing and flying off to what
she thought was a position of relative safety.

A foolish thought.

No place is safe from him. He struck at her then; not enough to end
her life, but enough to teach her pain. Ydane desperately cast about
for some means of appeasing the angry deity. But how does one "appease"
a deity who thrives on strife? She was dimly aware that Jormyr prized
conflict above all else, and so she cast about for an offering.

That's when she saw Pankhero and made her second mistake. An Imperial
Citizen and frost giant himself, she had traveled with him briefly
before he prostrated himself before the Throne and took the Blood Oath.
He too fell to her teeth and claws, and she was hopeful as she offered
his carcass as sacrifice to the angry god. The angry god...of frost
giants. Oops.

Still, his anger seemed to abate. No lightning bolts struck her; no
storm drove her from the skies. She thought the matter finished. At
least, that's what she thought until Draveden struck her. A fellow
reaver, he ambushed her as she slept, hoping to end her quickly. Smart,
but not successful. A message, he said, from the Lord of Strife. She
realized the matter was not settled after all.

Later, after she had fallen in combat, Jormyr revealed himself and
explained the reason for his displeasure. His priest, Targung, who also
fell, proceded to tell her of his Lord and of the true "end" of strife.
They spoke of many things, even though it felt odd to stand next to an
Imperial Citizen without biting him or pecking his eyes out. Stil, she
managed to restrain herself.

Ydane is intrigued by this savage god and his frosty priest. She hopes
to learn more. From Targung, as well as Sephmylla.
