He was pouring over a dusty and faded tome of the Master's Tower when he
heard it. Soft crying. He was a bit agitated, if we're being honest. All his
work making the tower stronger, bringing mages back into the Tower in search
of lost magics, inspiring the world to make magic strong through his
deceptions. And it was working! The Baron's Tower has more mages than ever
before, more things being rediscovered, the Village is weaker than he's ever
seen..in short his rotten tree is bearing fruit. But Suippi gets all the
glory. The affections, the attention, the secrets, the magic. His magic.
Sometimes his greed overcomes his common sense.

The soft tears turned into a pitiful wail. He went to investigate. He was
quite confused as he descended the stairs and saw a gnome sobbing. She looked
familiar to him, the physique, the hair..and then she looked up. Tear filled
eyes flowing freely, her brown eyes pierced him like a frozen ice-pick. He
taken back to his earlier years, bouncing on her lap as she stared down with
disappointment. Hugging her tightly in embraces that were half-returned. And
watching her walk away after a long walk in the woods. He tried to follow her
but she was moving so fast and he could barely totter. His own pain and
anguish manifested before him in the gnomish woman staring back, his mother.

She said she had sought him out, she had heard of him and what he had become,
and she wanted to see for herself. And then it was like he was young again,
he asked her so many questions, he offered so many explanations, he only
wanted to know that she was proud. He wanted to know he was loved and
cherished, surely that is why she came all this way! She said she had lost
her home, her livelihood, her husband, and all his brothers and sisters. But
none of that mattered to Pininip, he was very excited she was here. He
invited her to live in his room, to stay with him, he would replace her
things, he would give her shelter, he would love her and they would make up
for lost time.
