Orgoleth the Spectre

Description

Standing just short of six feet this man stands with a casual confidence and
indifference. His posture is slightly slouched and relaxed. He clad in fitted
clothing, his sleeves and leggings are lined with numerous little buttons.
His face is hollowed and gaunt, prominent cheek bones brow and chin give you
an idea of what his polished skull may look like. Thick black hair parted
directly in the center of his scalp frames his extremely symmetrical face.
Light blue eyes glimmer from his deeply set eye sockets. His arms are long
and lanky with thin graceful hands stained with dried blood. His long thin
legs are proportionate to the rest of his svelte frame. Various items hang
from his belt, a few weapons, talismans and a bag.

Lord Twist appeared to Orgoleth in the Temple of the Scarab and agreed to
place his mark on the still young mage. This began a new chapter in his life,
he now would seek to become the Lord Adept of his chosen path of study,
certain he would only seek out the apex of his study. He would seek to
achieve the greatest accomplishment magic can provide mortal man, the true
Becoming.

Becoming an Acolyte and guiding thoughts.

Unsure if Gemmurra would give him a chance, Orgoleth followed his will and
pressed forward with his pursuit of the Cult, deciding if he was honest with
himself and the Voice there could be but one result. Once accepted inside the
Temple he found his own voice manifested from his will, guiding him in the
dark recesses of his being. Always ready to turn a cold introspective eye on
himself when purity of thought was in doubt.

The origins of man has proved an ever present facet of his understanding of
the Truth, one that he believes he knew the answer to, yet he desired more.
The ancient Immortal Lord Twist was a distant thought to many with whom he
discussed such matters. Blind to the truth of man the profane litter the
lands, it was apparent these unaware husks of flesh wandering blindly did not
fully appreciate the weight of the gifts bestowed on man by Lord Twist, just
as they did not understand the shadow each and everyone one of them casts. He
would be an example to all.

The understanding of the nature of man steered Orgoleth to the guild of
Necromancy, it seemed the purist interpretation of how he saw the world.
During his apprenticeship Orgoleth would discover another truth, the orgins
of all man was rooted in magic. It flowed through the very heart of Thera.
Orgoleth came to conclude that magic in and of itself was not sentient and
thereby not inherently given to darkness or light, however without this
divine gift there would be no man and no truth of man.

The value of honesty was the only intended teaching that Orgoleth would come
to see value in as he survived the years of attempted brainwashing and
beatings. He came to respect himself too much to simply lie. The unintended
lesson of the Truth of man became what drove him to survive day to day, to
embrace himself for who and what he was and shed the attempted false
teachings of those around him.

Reaching the age of Fifteen Orgoleth could take no more and felt he would
rather starve in the woods than be subjected to another day with this lot.
Counter to what he had been told, the compound he lived on was not as remote
as he was led to believe and soon found himself in the city of Seantryn
Modan.

Orgoleth's first memories are of the sun. An intricately designed motif of a
blazing sun with rays of light penetrating sky and lands below. It was the
symbol of the cloister of monks who took him in as an orphan, their stated
intent to raise an enlightened young man. Memories of pain would soon follow,
the Acolytes of the sun believed in walking the 'right' path in ones life and
any deviation from their designed path resulted in punishment. The slightest
infraction of their code was met swiftly with a beating followed shortly
thereafter by prayer to redirect their charge on the correct path. Orgolelth
would learn quickly that any perceived deception was among the most severe of
infractions, honesty was held in high regard.

Orgoleth learned well from his mentors, the lessons however taught him
something other than intended. Over the years these zealots of the light
unwittingly instilled in him the true nature of man. Hidden behind their
words and hearts was what he slowly would come to see as the truth of all
men. Their words bore no weight, their actions were impossible to deny. The
very darkness they strove against was firmly at home within them, yet they
were blind to this. While they valued honesty, they did not understand truth,
and therefore could never be honest with themselves.
