Chasing Emerald Glory

While grasping wildly upwards she began to pull loose rock that bounced,
knocking heavily on the way down.


KNOCK!

As the boulders fell and soon settled, noise continued to creak and crack as
the weight of the rock displaced a natural equilibrium. With eons of heavy
gold sand spreading the weight out evenly, the fallen rocks landed together
near the open crack and placed too much weight on a weakened wall. Suddenly,
the sound of rushing rock and water filled the chamber as Golthazar looked
below. The ground began to shift beneath her feet as she scampered onto a
stalactite and hugged it with all her might. The grunts of the miners could
be heard as gold, water, and rock blasted through their excavated hole, which
soon became plugged with rising levels of sediment. Looking back up she
could see the glimmering light and instinctively searched for a new foot and
hand hold to scale upwards through this treacherous shaft. As her hand flung
upwards it soon found roots and she latched onto them and found herself
drowning in the green hue.
