Balgrum's prehistory.
Added Thu Mar 10 14:07:09 2016 at level 14:

Balgrum Brightbeard grew up a young dwarf in Akan. Son of dwarven parents of
good reputation, his father a blacksmith, and his mother a renowned member of
the clergy. His youth was spent working long tiring hours in the forge with
his father, and in the evenings studying the teachings of Lord Avderlain
with his mother in the Stone's Embrace. He grew strong, working the forge
with his Father, and learned much of Mercy and Peace from his mother. A
strong balance of physical and mental activity for a young dwarf. As
Balgrum grew older, and his beard grew longer - he was forced to choose
between the profession of his Father, and the work of his mother. Balgrum
loved working the forge with his Father immensely for the hard physical work
it entailed, and the reward of physical prowess that it garnered him.
However, his mind was often distracted by thoughts of moral and ethical
obligation and the spiritual side of his life spent with his mother. After
years and time spent between the two professions, Balgrum realized his heart
was with the clergy, and that he would continue his life as a clergyman
himself. Though his mother was a healer, Balgrum did not want to be as
passive in his work as his mother had been. He decided that he would join
the guild of Shamans instead, and seek to travel out into Thera and preach
the good word of his deity, forcibly if necessary - although rarely would he
ever mortally harm another sentient being - no matter how dark the heart
might be. Balgrum always saw a chance for redemption in the eye's of others
and beyond all else wished to help Theran's embrace the light of the sun in
their hearts!
