After realizing the malady would not wear off Magner finally did emerge from her chambers only to
have her embarrassment and shame heightened when the other duergar saw what had befallen her and
began their merciless teasing. Desperately, Magner sought out every mage she could find, including
those among the drow, hoping to find someone to reverse the magic. Unfortunately for her, none could.
They all told her the same thing: the magic was too powerful to be reversed. Not only was the spell used
very powerful itself, it was cast at a time when the veil was incredibly thin lending further strength to
the magic.

Despair filled Magner when no mage could reverse what had been done to her. She had been turned
into something she had always felt completely beneath her and it shamed her greatly. She seriously
began considering taking her own life. As she considered her own suicide her despair mixed with hatred.
Hatred for what had been done to her. Hatred for the drow who had done it and most of all hatred for
the magic that allowed it to happen. Nearing the edge of actually going through with the deed she
pulled back. She was far too proud a person to take the cowards way out. Her pride in herself simply
would not let her do it. She would find a way to overcome this. She would overcome this obstacle and
be all the greater for it. Remembering that the Veil had a lot to do with the permanence of her current
state an idea occurred to her. What if she began to destroy magic? Could she then destroy the magic
that afflicted her? What if she made the Veil so thick it choked the magic right off of her? She could
become one of those Battleragers she occasionally heard of in Arangird and battle magic that way. Yes,
that is what she would do and in a final act of defiance towards the drow and all that had happened to
her she would do it with knives, not swords.
