Jutley Tem Russer the Grand Master of Artistry, Hunted by Fortress
DescriptionThis human is quite tall, however, he isnt so tall as to appear awkward and gangly. He has an average build with well-defined musculature. His hair is wavy brown and just long enough to have wisps cover his ears and fall off the side of his forehead. His skin is tan and his eyes are a piercing blue framed in an incredibly handsome face that is accented even more by a five o-clock shadow for a beard. His posture is upright, with his shoulders back and his head up, as if he thought himself to be slightly bigger than life itself. He has the initials JTR tattooed on his neck for all to see, either because he is incredibly proud of them or he is for some reason putting a tag of claim on his body.

42872, Jutley's Role Chapter 8

RoleChapter 8 The Commander Resigns Added Mon Dec 10 16:09:24 2012 at level 51:JT was disappointed with the resignation of Commander Tiarhelle. He found her to be a capable leader and was especially pleased that she listened to his experiences concerning the Scions and seemed to be concerned enough not to ignore or dismiss what he had to say. While he still held on to the believe that the war against the Fort was just, he now found himself wondering what would happen with it now that she was gone. There are some, especially on the Fortress side, that viewed this as her personal war, and now that she was gone it seemed only natural that the war could end. JT was not so sure. How could the Village end the war now? None of their goals for fighting the war had been gained and to end the war would mean negotiating with those magi who gave nothing in return. He did not see how that could be acceptable and thought the next Commander will inherit a momentous decision to make, that is, if the Drillmaster hasnt already made it.
JT hasnt had any more experiences and he wondered if and when he would have another. Nor has he found out much concerning the Scions, with the exception of a peculiar announcement the Chancellor made concerning a box that she was seeking a felar shapeshifter to open. Could this have something to do with his experiences?
Beyond that, war raged as normal. On one particular day, JT found himself fighting the Nexuns through a series of battles. During one skirmish, JT was outnumbered and was defeated. After the battle, the Nexun Rhyme stepped out of the shadows while JT recovered his belongings to have a word with him. JT noticed to his consternation that she wore the mark of Fjarn. Now, he realizes that religion transcends the boundaries of mortal wars, however, he couldnt help feel the pang of disappointment and frustration and that the leader of one of the Villages mortal enemies found favor with his god, a god of Battle, while he has not yet found that favor. The pang was great enough that JT went to Fjarns shrine immediately after and prayed, letting his frustrations bleed through.

RoleChapter 7 Voices From the Shadows Added Fri Nov 23 10:10:58 2012 at level 41:JT was practicing his singing in Hildebrans hut and took a nap to let his voice recover. When he awoke the light had gone out in the hut and voices from the shadows began to speak. Jutley became immediately alarmed. This was not one of his experiences, he was fully awake, he was sure of that. The voices spoke of looking to the sun with shadows behind, and how JT could see but the others could not. JT understood immediately that this had something to do with his revelation that he mustnt be distracted by the Fort and ignore the Scions. Then, just as quickly as it began, the voices faded and the darkness lifted from the hut.
Hildebran witnessed the whole thing, but, his years of fighting this war against magic left him numb and unconcerned by the whole experience. JT didnt share his nonchalance. Hildebran suggested that JT just wait and see what happens and turn their ambush against them. While a good idea, it made JT uncomfortable to essentially be bait, but, what else could he do?
JT considered writing a letter to the entire Village warning them of what he suspected but he feared it would be taken as a disagreement with the directives of the Commander. He couldnt allow himself to be viewed as insubordinate. He must do his duty for there was honor in it. JT decided to have a private conversation with the Commander instead, the next he saw her.

RoleChapter 6 Another Experience Added Sun Nov 18 11:25:24 2012 at level 35:From the blackness of sleep, a sudden sense a fear overtakes JT. The sudden fear is replaced by a split second of urgency, the feeling that someone is in the hut with him. He had been asleep. His fatigue from the life of a Battlerager had taken him down deep past the point of dreaming. Now within the span of several thoughts he had been awoken with this fear and dreadful feeling that someone was with him. But, before he could react, the familiar feeling of strong vibrational energy washed over him. JT now fully conscious, but oddly unable to move his body, realized what was happening and did his best to calm himself and let the experience take over.
As if that thought were a command, the vibrations suddenly ended and were replaced by the lightless feeling of a free fall that ended with a disorientating shift leaving JT to find himself standing in a large, circular stone chamber. LOOK came a command from a familiar sounding voice. It was the grizzled warrior who was now standing beside him and was pointing toward the center of the chamber. JT looked and saw a large stone pedestal emanating a bright light. JT approached the pedestal to better see the source of the light. It was a huge diamond that radiated an intense white light from its center. LOOK CLOSER came another command from his guide. Squinting his eyes, or what he thought were eyes, JT brought his focus on the diamond. At the thought of focusing the light seemed to dim enough for him to see the complexity of the diamonds shape and cut. He noticed that while the diamond was very beautiful it contained many flaws. CLOSER taking a final step so that he was but inches from the diamond JT saw through the diamond and noticed the movement of shadows behind the diamond. Instinctively reacting, JT flinched backwards, and not a moment too soon as from behind the diamond the shadow materialized with lightning speed into the form of a jet black viper making a strike for his faced, missing only by the breadth of a hair.
Instantly the pedestal faded away and the grizzled companion came back into view. YOU MUST DO YOUR DUTY FOR IT BRINGS YOU HONOR. LEARN THE MEANING OF HONOR BUT DO NOT BE DISTRACTED FOR DANGER GROWS IN STRENGTH UNDER THE UNWATCHFUL EYE.
JT, now used to the cryptic visions and knowing they were meant for him, let his intuition take over. Amazingly, the answers seemed to come to him instinctively. The diamond, flawed in all of its brilliance and a prize to be taken, had to be the Fort. And the serpent that lurked in the shadows behind the diamond was the Scions. He must continue to do his duty to the Village, for it was a noble cause, but, the Scions were clever and dangerous wizards that would use the war with the Fort to gain power and strike unseen from the shadows. JT must not let that happen. He must keep a focused eye on the Scions. Lastly, he knew the warrior was telling him to learn of honor from Fjarn.

RoleChapter 5 About Jutley Since Joining The Village Added Fri Nov 9 07:31:49 2012 at level 33:The choice to oppose magic instead of joining it or trying to remain neutral to it has led Jutley, or JT as he liked to be called, to the Village and the title of Battlerager. He believes in his heart that had he not made this choice, ultimate death, death of the soul, would await him. He is beginning to see how the choices one makes affect their future and their fate. Fate is the sign Jutley is born under, and one can only imagine that it will play a role throughout all of his life. Fate is also part of the religious doctrine of the immortal Fjarn. While these concepts are still relatively new to Jutley, he feels compelled to seek Fjarn out to learn more.
Jutley has found his voice in the Epic style of singing. Where as a young man, without a care in the world, spending his time in the taverns he had enjoyed the comedic styles of the bards who entertained such places. While those comedic songs are still fun, they do not hold his interest like they once had. Not since that last out of body experience, as he can only describe it, where he woke up feeling a purpose and desire to inspire as a result of his choice to oppose magic.
Jutley has yet to have another similar out of body experience. However, the last words of the grizzled warrior made him believe that there would be more. Even though it had been sometime since the experiences, they were etched into his mind as if they happened the previous night. There were still so many questions he has about these experiences. Were those two men he was shown really future versions of him? Who was his guide, this grizzled warrior? Would he always be in them? Would future such experiences provide him with new choices? Would these choices always be his to make? So many questions, and JT had only time to contemplate them.

42868, Jutley's Role Chapter 4

RoleChapter 4 The Choice Added Mon Oct 22 15:34:57 2012 at level 14:The next day, Jutleys mind was filled with the experience from the night before. He couldnt stop thinking on it. All day, he was incredibly distracted. Around noon a servant came to him and told him his father was summoning him. Jutley obeyed and went to see his father. He found him waiting in his study with the Necromancy Guildmaster. Jutley, my boy, it is time. You are near an adult now, and it is time for you to choose to join the necromancy guild, his father said to him. Wearing a devilish grin, the necromantic guildmaster added in, Yes, Jutley, it is time to become one of us. And perhaps, some day if you are lucky, you might Become just like the great Drekvah has done recently. Choose, you must choose. The words of his father and the guildmaster registered with him, and suddenly he felt revelation come upon him. It was as if he suddenly realized the answer to a puzzle. He knew the reason behind the experience from the night before, and he knew it instinctively. Had the old warrior shown him a glimpse of futures that might be? Were the two men he saw possible versions of himself? A choice was being set before him, only this choice had ramifications that reached far beyond his comprehension. He had to choose to join or oppose magic. One path led to life and the other death and Jutley knew which one was which.
Later that night, Jutley found himself lying on the bed of a rented room in an inn. His father had been furious when he told his father he chose not to join the magis guild and immediately kicked him out of his house. So much had changed in such a little time, but, for some reason, he had a feeling of contentment, as if he was doing the right thing. Somehow, he also knew that choosing not to join the guild wouldnt be enough. The old warrior had told him he had to oppose it. Somehow, Jutley was going to have to oppose magic, how he would do that, he had no idea. Pondering the matter he slipped into sleep only to be awakened by a similar sounding crack that was accompanied this time with a strange feeling of vibration. Jutley sat up and before he could look around he suddenly found himself standing at the foot of his bed. His guide from the previous night, the old, gruff warrior materialized from the shadows in the corner of his room. A mysterious smile crept over his face and he said, You have made your choice. You have chosen to save yourself. But, this is just the beginning. This is only the start. There will be more choices. There will be more to learn.
When Jutley woke the next morning he found himself inspired to begin writing music. Not just any music, but, music that would arouse the heart and stir the spirit. Music that was inspirational. Music for war.

RoleChapter 3 Am I Dreaming? (Part 3) Added Mon Oct 22 15:32:14 2012 at level 14:Before the vision of the old man writhing on the ground could culminate into a conclusion the scene faded away once again and left Jutley bewildered and wondering if the old man actually succeeded or was disintegrating into oblivion. Before he could even finish the thought, a new scene formed in front of him. This time a battle field unfolded and his attention focused on a figure, who again was very recognizable, except he did not have the dark and sinister overtones to him. This man was much more likeable to Jutley for an indescribable reason. This man was past middle age, with a graying beard and bald head. He was lean and wearing flowing, stylish clothing. He held a horn in his right hand and had it raised to his lips, ready to sound. In his left hand he held a long, slim, yet, well forged blade. Across the field of battle from the man with the horn stood a robed figure that was hard to see any discernible features on because various auras of energy, electricity and magic flowed around him. The robed figure appeared to be a powerful arch-mage and was about to do battle with the man with the horn. Before the two could clash the scene faded to black and the voice of the gruff warrior said, You must oppose or join. To not oppose means you will join. A choice must be made. All paths lead to one or the other. All paths lead to either life or death.
The cryptic words of the warrior echoed through Jutleys mind. He suddenly opened his eyes and found himself back in his bedroom. This time, his room was dark and everything seemed so much more real. What did all of that mean? What was the warrior trying to tell him? Why would he show him those two scenes? What did it all mean?

42866, Jutley's Role Chapter 2

RoleChapter 2 Am I Dreaming (Part 2) Added Mon Oct 22 15:30:25 2012 at level 14:The old man suddenly threw back his head and opened his mouth and poured the liquid contents of a vial down his throat. Almost instantly, the old man screamed a terrifying and pained scream. The scream was so horrible it nearly sounded as if it came from not only his physical body but from his soul. The man shook and convulsed. Suddenly, he fell to the floor and his body began to decay instantly. Still screaming, the man writhed on the floor. What was happening to him? The whole scene was chilling as the scent of death filled the air. The man was dying a horrible death! Or was he? Realization hit Jutley as he recognized some of the necromantic sigils that were drawn or engraved upon various objects in the room. Jutley knew enough about the various guilds of magic from his father to recognize such signs, and he wondered if he was witnessing an attempt at Becoming. The question was did the old man succeed? Or was his soul being destroyed?
Jutleys father was not only a mage himself, but, an Advisor to the Empress of Seantryn Modan. Jutley himself spent little time in the city, as his family owned a large estate south and east of the city. In fact, he felt himself more of a country boy than a city boy. The only time he really visited the city was to go tavern hoping in search of a good time and maybe a nice woman. Jutley had a big personality and an ego to match. He was generally well liked, and for a kid raised in privilege, he wasnt mean or cruel like some others of well-to-do birth were. He just simply liked to enjoy himself, which made him popular in the taverns. He also was an amateur musician, often playing in the taverns, which also enhanced his likability and ability to have a good time. This lifestyle, unfortunately, was about to come to an end. His father always talked about how he wanted Jutley to follow his footsteps and rise up through the ranks of the mage guilds. The only thing was his father was a member of the Transmuters guild and he was pushing Jutley to join the guild of Necromancy. Apparently, there was some sort of political gain for his father to have Jutley join this guild instead of the Transmuter Guild. For the most part, Jutley had thought that becoming a magi was inevitable and part of becoming an adult. That is, until now.

42865, Jutley's Role Chapter 1

RoleChapter 1 Am I Dreaming? (Part 1) Added Mon Oct 22 15:27:59 2012 at level 14:*BOOM*!!! The sound was explosive and loud, very much like the sharp crack of a lightning strike and it started Jutley Tem Russer awake. He sat up in bed, fuzzy from sleep and looked around for the source of noise. Having seen nothing and the initial shock of the noise having faded, he got out of bed and noticed something strange. His room was flooded with a pale green light, and why was everything so fuzzy? Confused, he looked around at the ethereal scene and startled when he looked back at his bed and noticed someone sleeping there. Thats strange. Who could that be? He didnt remember bringing any tavern girls to bed with him that night. Whats even stranger was that person is sleeping right where he had been moments before! Was that him? Was he dreaming?
As if reading his mind a voice answered from behind him, This is more than a dream. Spinning around Jutley was confronted by a rugged, graying man past his prime. The man was dressed in furs, leathers and armors and had the muscular look and scarred complexion of a warrior whod seen and survived many battles. The man was quite fearsome, yet, for some reason Jutley did not feel threatened by him.
Who are you?, Jutley asked. Ignoring the question, the gruff warrior pointed toward the window. As soon as Jutley turned to see what he was pointing at his bedroom scene seemed to melt away and was replaced with a dim candle-lit room, strewn with books and various instruments carelessly left about. At the far end of the room stood the figure of a hunched over, elderly man wearing long, flowing dark robes. The elderly man seemed familiar and unrecognizable to Jutley at the same time. It was as if he were seeing someone he knew as a child who had now grown into an adult and had changed over time. Except in this situation, the unrecognizable traits were very dark and sinister.
