Drustrui the Grand Master of Changelings, Slave to the Queen
DescriptionAn elven man, slender and poised with features like a fine statue that has since been weathered and beaten by the elements. His ears are not completely missing but they lack the top half so there is no visible sign of his elven inheritance. He scowls at you and most everyone that passes and his top lip curls in a permanent sneer. His hair looks like metallic silver as it catches the fine threads of light that get past his armors. It is shaven at the sides and the top is cut, or rather hacked, in the style of a mohawk that leads to the back where is is long and tangled. He does not appear to be overly muscled but his body appears hardened and tough. Your lungs are filled with the smell of dried blood and stale sweat and as you look closer you see that.....

28696, Drustrui's Role Chapter 14

RoleChapter 14 A strange gift Added Sun May 10 14:55:19 2009 at level 8:Jonaris was a simple enough man and he lived with his wife in the Taff Valley. He and his wife were in their mid 30's and had been trying for children for many years but with no luck. They had fallen pregnant but lost the child twice and many times the child did not develop well inside.
In an dark-elf city, a young noble paced back and forward with a worried expression etched across his pointy face. In the room behind him, his trusted servant and a witch doctor of sorts were trying to perform the elven equivalent of a back street abortion and remove the offspring from inside her before it could develop fully and bring shame to him and his family. The servant came out and in his bag there was a bulge. Nodding at the prince, he grimaced and then made off towards the mountains where he was instructed to destroy the baby completely. The noble moved towards the room to see if the witch-doctor had finished and that the serving girl was well but was in abject horror at the sight that waited before his eyes. The girl was torn asunder, there was blood on every wall, scrawled glyphs and words written in her blood and the cold grayness of her vacant stare met his as he entered. He was wracked with both guilt and fear at the death....no....the murder of this woman. The witch-doctor looked at his shocked expression and smiled wryly at the fear in his eyes and spoke. 'You fear hell and damnation young noble?' his tone was sweet and mocking. The noble could not get the words out but nodded furiously. The witch-doctor spoke again and offered the noble an absolution of guilt for the permission to practice his craft without persecution within his families lands. The noble agreed and the witch-doctor began to chant again and cut the eyes from the serving girls corpse. The noble did all he could to stop himself but he lost his stomach contents and collapsed by the wall and could only listen as the witch-doctor went on... 'Mortal sin, twice it's done....blood to the four sides, void of sun' 'Blame not the noble for your dark deed done, eyes in my hand see only the son!' With that the room shook and a foul smelling air blew through the room and then was still.
Clamouring down the mountainside the noble's most trusted servant made his way into the Taff valley to dispose of the baby. He stood above a cliffside, looking at the pale skinned child, paused a moment and then held it above his head as he prepared to throw it. Suddenly the clouds roiled overhead, black and thunderous bringing huge forks of lightning down round about him. He feared for his life and for what he had witnessed in the room and thought the gods had sent it to kill him. He dropped the child and leapt into flight from the cliffside, only to be struck by a thunderbolt, which left nothing of him behind. The child just lay in a hatch of rocks and bushes, waiting.
Jonaris was as surprised as any to find such a child when he was returning from his

He first thought of the shame that someone must now have for leaving the child and that they would surely return and he should leave it but as he pondered a small smile crossed the face of the child as it looked at him. Jonaris stood back and watched warily as the baby tried to grab his finger. To his amazement it was not a beast or demon with pointed face abd ears but an elven baby. He quickly looked around to to see if anything was around, the mother perhaps, but decided this was the gift of life his wife and he had prayed for. He scooped up the baby and took it home to his wife.

RoleChapter 12 A little hobby can't hurt anyone. Added Sun May 10 14:57:09 2009 at level 8:Drustrui was, as a young child, besotted by the beauty of creatures and people. So much so that his father bought him a book in which he could collect butterflies and other such beautiful insects, preserved forever in their magical perfection. As he got older, his fixation for the beautiful things grew and he had started to kill, skin and preserve the bodies of small animals. This grew to larger animals such as a neighbours very expensive cat and his litter of kittens. Forever kept from aging, from wilting and seeing their beauty fade. Still his passion for his macarbe collection grew, so much that when his baby sister had died in being born he stole her from her resting place and took her to his attic to be forever a beautiful child. Later the same month the magistrates came round from the next village to knock, asking if anyone had seen a missing baby, stolen from her basket the day before. Drustrui's father said they new nothing but would let them know if they saw any strangers come by. Weeks and months came and went, more babies and small children were disappearing and there was real fear in the valley that there was a curse upon the valley and that some creature of the night has come to destroy the lineage of the people. For years this went on, a childe a month disappearing, different ages, sex, size and shape. Noone knew what to be done.

RoleChapter 11 Can it be true? Added Sun May 10 14:57:50 2009 at level 8:Drustrui's mother was depressed after the death of her baby and she took it out on her daughter and always had a go at him, hitting him and blaming him for everythin but his father would always stand in the way to prevent Drustrui's retaliation saying his wife was unwell, she did not mean it. Coward! She was the one that spoiled it all and caused Drustrui to lose his beautiful collection. Drustrui was always very careful and precice about his movements knowing his mother was always prolwing in the house for him but one morning he got careless and when he left his bedroom one morning he happened to forget to cover his tracks. he left the wood panel that led to his attic space open. Noone had known of the space until now but his mother stepped in to investigate.

RoleChapter 10 The Book of wishes and room of the beautiful. Added Sun May 10 15:01:39 2009 at level 9:In the attic space she found what she thought was the most horrific sight in the world. It was a complete setting of a nursery or school yard. Children, with not a mark upon them were positioned, at play, sitting, laughing. Pins held their features in place and kittens scampered around their feet. Dogs had cats scared and up in childrens arms and everyone one of them was dead. It was a snippet of life Drustrui said as he turned very quickly. Beautiful children, captured at their most beautiful forever, timeless. Look how they smile, they never tire and never get upset, he mused. his eyes darkened and he said 'But they need a teacher, a mother to watch over them' She tried to scream but it was too late, Drustrui had moved swiftly and grabbed her throat. The lights in her eyes faded as he held his grip and then he began to work. Removing the organs that were not needed, and preserving the skin. He had become quite accomplished at it over the few years he had been adding to his collection. It was complete but time was short and Drustrui did not wish to be so he kissed all of his children goodbye and sealed them in the attic. The only thing he removed was his sketchbook where he penned all of her collection. he fled the valley and took the first boat that left the dockyards.

RoleChapter 9 Talents and a guild. Added Sat May 16 11:58:02 2009 at level 22:Drustrui made his way through many lands until he found one that he felt had the opportunities for starting a new collection of beautiful things. His chosen home was the desert city of Hamsah Mutazz. There were so many people passing through on camel trains and wagon trains that missing people and animals. He would need a fool proof way to avoid capture in the event of an unsuccessful abduction. He first approached the Royal guild of assassins but was ignored and thrown out because he was not strong enough or fast enough. They did not believe him when he said he would grow and mature more. He was not perturbed by this but was a little upset but there was always the thieves guild. They listened to his wishes to join and were about to sign him up when the Bandit King asked him for his vouch form. Drustrui questioned the need for someone's word to vouch for him. The Bandit King sneered at him and looked down his crooked nose and said 'We do no be letting just anyone join. We do be having secrets to keep!' Drustrui swept around and stalked out of the room to the sound of laughter behind him. He thought to himself 'I am more intelligent than many and more shrewd than most!' He started walking and musing to himself about his predicament. It seemed so obvious that he felt angry at himself for not even considering it before. His natural gifts would be best placed in a world of magic where he could go unseen by the mere drones of the world and gather the beauty to him. He made his approach first to the guildhall of necromancy then to the guild of invokers and both of them refused him entry due to his age and that he had no formal training in his youth. The latter guildmaster told him to try the guild of shapeshifting, as if it were somehow a lesser path of magic. Drustrui had no such worries about 'lesser arts' and so approached the guild of shapeshifting and to his pleasure, after a few small aptitude tests he was accepted into their guildhall. It makes so much sense and looks so clear in hindsight but the teachings of this guild would be by far and away the best disguise he could hope for.

He would make sure to look in to other avenues of study and broaden his choice of forms. Who knows, he may even unearth something seldom seen.

RoleChapter 7 How the children play. Added Mon Jun 8 16:13:14 2009 at level 42:Drustrui sit camouflaged in the trees near the pool The Bedouin, nomadic and merchants children who swim and play here cannot see the small bombardier beetle in the branches. Drustrui sees and feels their innocence and beauty and it intoxicates him. He longs to be them and to feel so joyful in the company of others. Such pretty faces, such soft skin and the eyes are so bright and full of life. Drustrui thought to himself 'Oh, how the children play'. The children began to pack up as the sun began to descend below the tree lines. Time flies by when you are having fun, thought Drustrui. He watched ever closer as the smallest of the Bedouin children began to gather his clothes up to follow the others but he was tired from the swimming and lagged behind. Drustrui transformed his body to that of a furtive marmot and scrabbled down the side of the tree to the boy. The boy looked at him with a broad and welcoming smile. Drustrui acted shy and coyly moving back and then forward towards the young boy until the boy was rapt by Drustrui's antics and began to slowly follow him in the opposite direction from the children. Just a little further, thought Drustrui as he scampered around the young boy who giggled and tried to catch him. Then Drustrui stopped by tree stump, just west of the deep pool. Drustrui blinked slowly up at the little boy with his large saucer-shaped eyes and the little boy bent down to touch Drustrui's head when Drustrui bit the little finger clean off the boy's hand. The boy did not make a sound as shock raced through his body stunning him. Drustrui took the form of an ugly wombat and charged at the little boy, knocking him into the tree stump and robbing his lungs of air. Drustrui transformed back into his elven form and knelt by the boy. The fear in the boys eyes made them water and Drustrui told him not to worry and that he was 'Sorry' and that he would be alright. The boy was still reeling from his lost finger and only struggled feebly as Drustrui dragged him into the pool. Drustrui cast the magic of water breathing before pulling the little boy under the water. He stroked the boys face as a mother would to sooth an upset baby, all the while the little boys lungs burst with a lack of air until he let out a silenty bubbly scream that could be heard only by Drustrui. The boy was dead and his beautiful body was largely unharmed. The olive skin, unblemished and the lack of finger was a setback not to be repeated but could be disguised once the corpse had been treated so that it would not rot too quickly. There would always be new beautiful creatures to take his place if it did. Drustrui began to position the boy in a small copse just a bit north of the pool. He had noticed it when he was wandering about as a beetle. He would cast a few enchantments and make the body invisible so that the simple Bedouin folk would never find it. The law does not care for the children of travellers so

Over the coming months, many more children, dogs, birds and even one adult woman, who was with child, were to disappear but no one knew where they went or even if they were still alive. They were alive to Drustrui. They were kept in their innocent and beautiful states in his little woodland paradise. The mother feeding her baby while her son and daughter chased the family dog in circles. The birds sitting in the branches above watching the two boys as they played stones. RoleChapter 5 The Princess Added Thu Jul 2 16:27:28 2009 at level 46:Drustrui was sitting idly by the Gates of Sahaam in Hamsah Mutazz when a nomadic camel train passed him. He watched it lazily until he looked past the silks that hung around a large, ornamental looking, wagon. Inside this wagon sat the most beautiful creatures Drustrui had ever seen. A girl of about 14 and twin boys that must have been about half her age. Even from the distance he was from them he could see their smooth, unblemished and shiny olive complexions which were a stark contrast to their dazzling bright green eyes. They laughed and played inside the wagon and Drustrui licked his lips without realising, longing to be them or be with them. He must have them he thought and took the form of a beetle and scurried up to the lead camel to hitch a lift. They stopped by a small oasis as the sun fell beneath the distant sands and Drustrui moved away from the camp to rest his mind and recover from the rigors of maintaining the insect body. As he stood by the shady desert trees he listened to the guards of the wagon train talk about how quick 'Scalla the beetle god' has pushed the sun behind the sands tonight. Drustrui could not help but grin to himself as he now had a definite way to get the trust of the children. It would appear that a furtive marmot would not be of use this time but a depiction of a god they believe in would be wonderful. He waited until the guards had moved away before he took the form of a wombat and foraged about for food and water. Drustrui then switched to his beetle form and scuttled towards the childrens wagon. As he entered he could see that the twins had already taken to their beds but the young girl was sitting by her bed, brushing her long dark hair. Drustrui moved past her foot, at speed, and acknowledged her audible gasp. He stopped and turned around to look at her and to his delight, she had stopped brushing her hair and was watching him. He moved around in circles just to check and she was hooked. He rose up on his ear legs and then shifted into his true form. The young girl gasped but did not call and bowed before Drustrui mumbling something that he made out to be 'Great Scalla'. The dialogue that followed resulted in the young girl offering herself as a sacrifice to save

Drustrui gave her the potion of blessed death and she quaffed it and slumped to the ground without injury or blemish. Drustrui bundled her into a thick rug and moved towards the twins to add to his collection but he stood on a glass and the noise of the breaking awoke the closest twin. The twin cried out at the sight of Drustrui for he had not taken the form of the beetle yet and before he could muffle the boy sufficiently, four guards came bundling into the room. The blows came thick and fast leaving Drustrui only a brief moment to take to his most defensive form. The shell of his tortoise form gave him enough time to chomp at a few of the guards before moving back towards the rug with the princess in it where he reverted to his normal form, grabbed the princess and uttered the words of recalling. He slumped at the altar of Hamsah Mutazz with his quarry in hand. He was badly hurt and without sufficient amounts of gold to employ the healer effectively. It was by complete chance that he looked to the north at to see the gigantic rushing form of Woldrun, the commander of the village. Drustrui, once again ducked into his shell to take as little harm as possible but had to leave behind his princess, wrapped in the rug, as he made for freedom and survival. After taking several hours in a dark and dingy cave to recover from the grievous wounds Drustrui noted that he would need a stronger form that combined both the attributes of his leech and his tortoise if he was to survive such encounters with any comfort and so began studying the form of the komodo dragon. This would have the strength he needed. As luck would have it the rug had been left untouched at the altar so Drustrui carefully retrieved it, at night, and took the Princess to her new friends in the shade of the trees by the pond.

RoleChapter 3 Bravery or Cowardice? Added Thu Jul 2 16:28:41 2009 at level 46:Soon after he recovered the giant called Woldrun spoke to him about his 'bravery'?! The giant remarked on Drustrui's lack of calling out for help when Woldrun struck him and he is not the first assailant to notice. The foolish giant spoke of bravery and courage and strength. Drustrui listened and affirmed as and when he felt was needed. If only they knew that it was nothing to do with strength, courage or bravery. Drustrui has always tried to go unnoticed in the cities when possible for fear of drawing attention to himself in his original and most prone form so has learned to overcome the instinctual cry for help when cornered by someone, for whatever he was caught doing at the time.

RoleChapter 2 The Unworthy Added Fri Jul 10 14:41:47 2009 at level 47:The Gods brought about variety in species because they were bored with uniformity and so were born those of beauty, power and skill. Only time has passed since the Gods showed much interest in mortals appearances and those what are fortunate enough to be considered beautiful, clever or skilful have taken it for granted and it Drustrui sick. They do not deserve that which they were born with and they have not earned it. Drustrui knows to appreciate such beauty and ability and those that are beautiful and have no care of it will end up in his garden of pretty things. Those that take no care in their less beautiful gifts will die a hundred slow and painful ways. Drustrui will aid those who would be a focus for the Ccul'gra and see that they succeed and that he is well placed among them. Not at the very top less he be the first that the Ccul'gra turn on. He has seen the ruins of Maethien and Azuremain and knows that the first to try often die but those that facilitate and watch can be the most successful.
