Chapter 1

A Shattered Heart

Wailing cries fill the Island as the Nexuns wonder what is wrong with
Kyaltaru. "I barely even got to say goodbye! Why did she do this!?" he
screams with morning terror. A somber ambiance fills the air and the minstrel
tries to gather his bearing but cannot. Turning to the only thing that eased
his pain before, he let's alcohol enter his lips after his short time of
being a teetotaler.

His wife was dead. The only thing that helped him out of his depression, to
show him his potential, to give him a family that he once lost.. it was all
lost once again.

Dread overcomes him as he runs to others in Thera seeking some kind of peace,
but none is found. Lornis plagues him with false hopes of a place where his
dread can be accepted, Lornkanamas tries to console him.. but it is
impossible to understand the hurt.

"Everything I had, is gone. All I have is an Island that looks up to me,
needing inspiration, yet I am crushed. I should have listened to Lord Daevryn
damnit, this only brought me more pain, I was so foolish! To hell with being
a Teetotaler, this ale is what soothes me.. it is all that can keep me sane
enough to lead the Isle."

Reverting back to even when he was in the deepest of his depression, he grabs
his ale and clutches his sorrowful heart. "I will never forget you my love..
but I am too great to be broken by you. I hope your spirit lives on, but mine
my stay here for now.. no matter how much death would bring relief."
