1) A Strange Dwarf

Kernagor is a very unusual dwarf, in many ways. He's known it since
childhood. He's never really enjoyed brawling, though he did participate in
the hundreds of obligatory fights a young male dwarf gets into almost as a
matter of routine. His temper was difficult to rouse -- most of the time as a
child he was a rather mild dwarf. He was far too clever by half,
orchestrating some of the most notorious pranks in clan history (although he
usually got caught in the end). And worst of all, he never acquired a taste
for drinking alcohol.

No, that last part was a joke. Kernagor regards ale as just about as the
holiest thing in his life, far more essential than other things people put
value on. Like breathing.

But despite this similarity, it was clear he was very different from his kin.
Now, before you inquire as to what is so strange about this, allow me to
remind you that the Koldflame clan was a clan of dwarves. And not only were
they dwarves, but they were FAMOUS among dwarves for their hot-blooded
behavior. And since your average dwarf can go berserk three times in two
seconds when his blood's a-roaring, let me assure you that this clan was
particularly rowdy, even for dwarves. It was typical for a Koldflame to
declare a quest of some sort upon coming of age. Usually these goals were
something akin to gI be slayin three hunderd orcs while drunk with one hand
tied behind me back,h or gI be findin a DRAGON to gut wid me father's
father's father's second cousin's axe. While drunk.h

However, Kernagor announced he was going to study at a famous elven academy
in Darsylon. While drunk, of course.
