From Battle Mage to Empty Rage

In the dark recesses of a dank and musty cave, an egg lies in wait under the
watchful eyes of two cloaked and powerful looking figures. They seem
menacing enough without you even knowing their true power. They both utter
incantations while waving their downy arms over the egg and tossing some sort
of chalky powder at it.Their eyes glow a dull red in the darkness as they
finish the spell, the egg glows a faint blue before fading. Satisfied, the
pair of war mages walk off without acknowledging each other's efforts. The
egg seems to twitch slightly, it's dark leathery exterior prodding out
slightly before slowly receding back to it's normal state. Inside the egg,
is a different story

War magic flies wildly across the desert battlefield. Lightning arcs from
the walls of the very mountain itself, arcing from raider to raider and
sending them falling to their deaths. Great balls of fire fly from the top
of the mountain to the bottom, instantly turning the small clump of warriors
into ash, the sand below them to glass..goodness gracious. A faint blue
sphere hovers over the battle, watching as the Talshidar defend their
mountain home from the raiding party of desert marauders. Purpose fills the
sphere as it watches and waits, great gusts of sand-filled wind fly into the
intruding force, ripping the flesh to the bone of those unprotected, grit by
grit. The sphere fades away.

...Days later, the egg shakes violently under the watchful eyes of the
Talshidar war mages. A nod from the male to the female, signaling it is time
brings them both closer to the egg. Both close their eyes in concentration,
uttering guttural words of magic that come out with a series of hisses and
clicks of the beak. Gold powder is sprinkled over the egg as it begins to
glow a brilliant blue. The climax of the spell comes, the pair finish the
incantations with a near to orgasmic flash of raw power racing towards the
egg. The egg begins to glow a bright gold, it hovers inches off the air as
it trembles wildly, it begins to turn white in it's brilliance..before
suddenly fading and dropping to the rocky ground with a loud thud and crack.
The pair of Talshidar throw back their heads in anguish and frustration,
screaming into the dank air of the hollow cave.

Iltch never even knew his mother and father, he was reminded constantly of
their failure however, every time a battle mage sneered at him.He was
supposed to be the paragon of Talshidar war mages, the ultimate and most
powerful in the history of the people. His magic was stolen from him, burned
out by the greed for power of his predecessors, taken before he could even
utter a single spell. He felt hollow and empty, he knew the loss even having
never had the ability. He looked for constant approval from anyone through
childhood, never actually finding it. He would constantly sneak into the
vast libraries, reading up on magic, obsessing over how he could gain back
that which was lost. As an outsider looking in, he saw that his people were
very greedy, very evil.He read up about the battles that were imbedded in
his mind even before he was hatched, and from a neutral stand point saw that
most of them were fought over power, the Light wanted power over the
darkness, the darkness wanted to squelch th
