RoleChapter 1 Oaths, Weakness, and Explanations Added Thu Jun 21 23:19:39 2007 at level 51:Many times, Hunsobo receives criticism from powerful enemies, that he allows weakness to fester in the Imperial ranks. He wonders, at times, if the Dark Lords disapprove as well. The problem, as Hunsobo sees it, is that every single Imperial is weaker than he is...only to varying degrees. If he began casting any weakness out of the Empire, he would likely be left with the Shadow Lord, War Master, High Priest, and one or two Elite Blades and Divines. A good core group, to be sure, but every Army needs its fodder.
Hunsobo attempts to prune the absolute weakest, on occasion, to set an example. At times it works. Regarding the Blood Oath...Hunsobo has always believed that all citizens of Thera should be allowed to swear their heart, soul, and life to the Empire. He is incredibly confused when someone "interviews" a potential Oath. Why should they be grilled at all? They wish to bind themselves to service, as all Therans should. Such things as spies and potential traitors do not factor in.
And so, you have an Emperor who has administered the Oath dozens of times, possibly more. And truly believes that every single Theran will eventually swear the Oath.
