Third of the Third

I was the third son of the third son of the King of Baromyr. I doubt very
much that you have seen or even heard of my city, but I assure you we
Elves come from more than the city of Darsylon alone.

While Darsylon is a beautiful city in it's own right, many of us have
looked to it as a warning sign, rather than a guiding light. That city,
as are all Elven cities, was glorious once. But it has been tainted by
the corrupted populace of Thera, and so the city suffers.

Baromyr does not suffer. It will remain pure and it's gates closed so
long as my family rules. And they will rule eternally.

But I am not here to tell you the story of Baromyr, or even the noble
House that has sat upon it's throne for millennia. Their tale is grand, no
doubt. But my path has diverged from theirs.

Many noble families have fallen due to lack of a strong heir. But that
has not been the case in Baromyr. There are eight before me, and so I
will never be expected to sit upon the Ivory Throne.

Instead, my path has taken a decidedly different path.

Many of my kin, high-born and low, talk of the corruption that has begun
to infest Darsylon. This corruption which is born and thrives in the
cities of the lesser races. They all speak of what must be done, that one
of the pure-born must descend to common Thera and set right what is
wrong.

They talk, but precious few have the will to act.

I have become the exception.
