DC's text wasn't that long. I think that there should be just some kind of an opening chapter(not too long) of a story on the home page as eyecatcher to pique interest. Maybe after that, this and more stories link to a page with stories listed(something along the lines You can find this and more stories on our story page).

Having good headlines will always help in breaking the tedium of the text. And just a little bit of info from every subcategory, stories, what CF is, how to play. Not too much to bore people, but enough to get people interested in it to play or read more.
