258, What I want for Christmas
Posted by Zulghinlour on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
People always post here or there about what they would like from Santa for Carrion Fields. Well here's another place to put those.

What I'm looking for...

If Santa could bring you one thing (that's one people, not an enormous list) to stick under your CF Christmas Tree, what would it be.

I promise to give all of the entries the time they deserve (some will get none, some will get more). I do not promise that anything will be in for Christmas, as many of the ideas I'm sure will appear are large projects, but I am looking for something that can help guide the Immortal staff in the upcoming months. If things are small, easy, well thought out, and we like them, you just might get them for Christmas :)

Happy Holidays

375, How about an advance on next year's Xmas present?
Posted by Karakan on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I realize this is probably a stupid/useless feature request, and I've missed Christmas by a few weeks, but...

Similiar to the uptime command, I think it would be neat to see a playerbase command. The idea being that it records every unique character logoff and how long they were logged on for.

For instance, typing playerbase in the mud would give a message such as the following:

There were 20332 unique players logged in for a total of 40302003 hours since January 1st, 2005.

To make this command a little more useful, it could further break this down by year, month, or week so players could see how much the playerbase is really fluctuating, for instance:

playerbase
There were 2034 unique players logged on for 50302 minutes since Sunday, January 9th, 2004 0000 hours.
There were 10203 unique players logged on for 97504 minutes last week.
There were 12030 unique players logged on for 94002 minutes two weeks ago.
There have been 30002 unique players logged on for 4030304 minutes this month.
There were 75003 unique players logged on for 4343545 minutes last month.
There have been 4020302 unique players logged on for 93434545 minutes this year.
There was 23435334 unique players logged on for 345354453 minutes last year.

And so on. Obviously I pulled these numbers out of a hat, but I think these numbers would be fun to know to dispute the people that claim that CF is on death's door.

More in line with the spirit of the command along with what is reasonably obtained information.

Syntax: users playerbase

This command will give a graphical display of the number of player files over the past 52 weeks.

Being a nice guy...I even populated the last 52 weeks worth of data based on our logs.

Adagio now has some uses that Elven Adagio doesn't cover. Elven Adagio remains the superior choice for straight-up healing, though.

357, silent prayer
Posted by Wungar on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
As it stands from my experience with this skill is it only comes into affect when you are worldbound. This does not happen very often at hero levels because there are so few anti-paladins and even then its very hard for them to worldbind in the first place against the average paladins save vs spell. Since the faith virtue is already the most narrowly defined in terms of use perhaps it would be nice if silent prayer were able to help in the silent tower. Paladins more used to communing at a distance from their deity won't get hammered so hard on mana. Maybe make it just 1.5 times mana or what would be neat is if it was random between normal mana cost and double mana cost. This would allow just a little more utility to a very underused ability in a virtue that oftentimes cannot be used because of its narrow focus.

I think it would be fair with bards, and necromancers, if the sleep timer would stay after you get woken up. They already had their one chance to sleep you, so let them wait the timer out to try again.

I think this was covered well enough by the recent knockout changes, and I'm not going to touch those abilities at this time.

Posted by Jaedren on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
All I want for Christmas is for Bards to be allowed the next tier of songs upon reaching 90% in sing. Not that its a huge problem to perfect sing, but on some of my bards I've ranked past the level of wild west wind and fire and ice and sing has only been high 90's.

Anyway, thanks for this contest, have a merry christmas.

Posted by Valguarnera on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
We thought about this during the revamp, but it's rare that we see a bard who doesn't have Sing mastered by the time they would have the new songs unless they really power-ranked, so we decided to leave it as is.

Outlanders and detect invis.

I really enjoyed playing sylvans, and I would really like to get into the whole Outlander scene. Yet the one thing holding me back is detect invis. I know where to get different sources of it, wether its roots, potions or pills, yet I don't want to have to spend time gathering preps, which is what it would become, waiting for a repop for each one. With the inability to barter for multiple things and with a similar item more then once it makes it even worse.

So my one wish is for Outlanders to have a way to detect invis. Maybe have it only in the non-city areas like windwalk, or give them the ability to barter for multiple things/with multiple same items.
I would hardly think that giving them such an ability would hardly make them overpowered or unbalanced.

P.S. I also want the big red bike. The one with the flashy wheels. Oh and a new soccerball, cricket bat, oh oh oh, can I also have a new internet connection so I can go about some hardcore cfing?

P.P.S. Is it cold in the north pole?

One of the good people, Blobqirt.

Barter has been updated to allow for multiple items in certain specific situations.

You can barter 1 item for up to 8 food
You can barter 1 item for up to 5 pills
You can barter 1 item for up to 3 potions
You can barter 1 item for up to 3 scrolls
Everything else is 1 for 1

The game will give you the best deal automatically.

Merry Christmas.

what i wish is simple, just create an echo for those bard's
music that doesnt have one, like greensleeves and tears. It
sucks to not be able to know if it worked or not.

307, Flail users.
Posted by The Forsaken on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Most of the offensive specs get a good offensive skill to use at level 20 that helps with ranking (whirl, backhand, stab, and the earlier charge for spears and polearms). Most of the defensive specs get a good defensive skill to use at level 20 that helps with ranking (flourintine, distance, spin, ironhands). Whip/flail users get nothing.

Maybe throw in a little skill that's similar to either backhand or whirl (1 or 2 rounds of lag) that inflicts straight damage, nothing else, that can be used whilst ranking. Maybe a smaller version of double thrust where the warrior swings out with two whips/flails to a roundhouse type strike. Or, as I envision flails, swinging the flail and aiming the blunt head or ball at the torso or head of the opponent. I don't know, something. I'd gladly write the pechos for it, too, if it'd make it easier for you.

It'd be cool to give whip/flail users something to use in ranking that will be a minute skill when regarding pk'ing.

293, more anti-gank code
Posted by Ganked on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Having been on the recieving end of some six on one ganks lately, I think it could use a boost. Scarab mentioned once before only letting 3 or 4 hit one person at a time. Or if more than that, have a significant chance of them hitting their allies. Anything though would make some of these match ups less of a suicide.

Thanks Zulgh

285, pen scroll +
Posted by fleshofchaos on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
What I want for Christmas is the ability to put blank lines in notes via the 'pen' skill.

We can do it with desc + and role + but not pen.

Currently I just "pen scroll ." when I want to make a space which causes my notes to end up like this.

Howdy
.
See ya 'round.
.
fleshofchaos

It's not a major problem, it just makes the notes look a little funny.

But, that is my wish.

Ohh... joy... xmas... What a great idea!...

centurions: let one be able to flee from them in the direction you arrived from. I can live with the fact that they hit so hard, and such, but not being able to flee when you recently have fought an imperial is extreemly painfull. And causes an extreem number of deaths. I like their intention just not all of their abilities.

Merry christmas. Thanks for an incredible game...

Umm, I'll ask for a clarification.

Are you soliciting ideas for:

1. Big additions (new class or cabal),
2. Medium additions ("spruce up shamans"),
3. Vague shifts in priority ("give us more immteraction"),
4. Small changes ("fix centurions"), or
5. Any of the above?

#5...

As I said, the bigger the change, the less likely it will be in for Christmas, but part of the idea is to get a list for the next couple months for options immortals can choose to work on.

Examples of what I've gotten so far:
1. Bring back a mage cabal, bring back nexus
2. Additional powers for shield specs, drow inherents
3. Haven't really gotten any of these yet
4. Fix centurions, fix manacles

265, Manacles.
Posted by Tjok. on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Please do something with manacles and spellcasters.

Like, they don't stop spellcasting. Or, they stop spellcasting to the same degree Immolation does. Or, they can't be used unless the Tribunal is in PK. Or, they don't stop spellcasting unless the Tribunal is in PK. Any one of these tweaks would be fine.

I realize that the IMMs seem to think the players are a bunch of idiots and that mages have an incredibly easy time dealing with manacles while raiding Tribunal.. but honestly, look at the Outlander cabal for the past several months. It's a basic lesson in economic incentives. There hasn't been a single mage. I'm telling you, that's directly related to the fact that manacles so completely neutralizes them against the main cabal Outlander is warring with. Anyway, you said only one Christmas wish, but here's 1.0001: If you honestly believe that manacles is just fine and dandy given the Tribunal has constant cabal warfare, then my 1.0001 wish is for one of the power-PK IMMs (can be you, Sebeok, or Nepenthe) to roll up an invoker and show us all how it's done. I'd really like to be able to eat my words on this :P

Thanks and Merry Christmas.
