2333, Can we get a post about the Aug. RC?
Posted by A2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Ten days ago was the deadline for entry, just curious if it's the same deal as last month.
2347, TWAT! You are going to kill off the goodwill neededfor these to work. Patience n/t

Why do you people seem to think you are entitled to a role contest in the first place? I can't believe people are not only posting about it, but complaining it isn't happening in time. If someone doesn't get around to it in one month, so what? It comes the next month. If they want.

And people think I have a sense of entitlement? Sheesh.

You're such a Republican sometimes.

That is by far the worst thing anyone has said to me in the 13 years I've been at CF, and I resent it.

2346, Heh. Don't forget!

My warcry is only NORMAL!?!?!?!?! I did the quest to make it UBER!

I'm entitled to permanent great warcry! Don't make my warcry just normal! You all hate me.

I remember that whole rant. Makes me giggle to remember that, and read the above post.

Let me just say that the number of really huge roles entered this time around is unreal, and the chance of me declaring that I'm only reading the Nth chapter of each role for the next contest I run is increasing by the day. :P
2341, Yeah... I'm actually considering...
Posted by Arrna on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
... not to enter anymore rolecontests when my chars roles start to look like mine.... (I'm like what? 27 chapters? Most of the maxed out... And I hate myself for it...)

Perhaps it's the next best seller? The boring writings of Arrna Holdfast... Anyways, I'm grateful to anyone just beginning to read it after they've seen the massive walls of text. ROFL

Anyways, I love these rolecontests in any form. The comments are GREAT! If it would mean that the role contests would die, I'd gladly see the imms only reading the initial role entry or something like that.
2336, Dude! Didn't you read the note? Don't stress it! n/t

I'll leave everyone hanging an extra week just because you had to ask. They can all thank you later.

Get your Deckhands to help read role entries - punish them with swabbing the deck if they fail.

Excellent plan! My role automatically receives first place by suggested system. I like it!

No fair waiting for entrants to delete so you don't have to read their roles...
2343, I wasn't asking to be an asshole

Or to sound entitled. I think you have given my text a tone that is in your mind and was not in any way the tone I had in my head while typing it.

The routine for it has been to post that it's kicked off. I was bored and just checking and became curious. It was a fairly innocuous post asking a simple question. I wasn't whining that you were being too slow.

If you want to be a ####head about it you are more than free, but this isn't like bootcamp where you get to punish me by punishing everyone else. It doesn't really affect me. I enter these contests because I put effort into my role, but I did that before the contests and would continue to if the staff stopped having them.

To Graatch: You are full of self-entitlement. Like I said in the above, I was just asking a question, not trying to start a flamefest.
2349, Text is a hard medium...

Your post could be viewed as a needy, whiny, sarcastic post.

Or it could be viewed as an honest question without any intended offense.

Similarly, Neltouda's response could be viewed as an angry, vengeful, jaded, "shut up and go away" type post.

Or it could be viewed as a "just be patient" tongue-in-cheek post.

Since I know a bit more into Neltouda's personality than you probably do (maybe not a whole lot more, but a bit), I can tell you that I'm pretty sure that it was the latter.

And FWIW, I assumed your post was an honest question, too. But your phrasing could use a little work. The "just curious if it is the same deal as last month" can be read as slightly inflammatory, IMO.
2350, Yeah. She still sounds bitchy.NT

Tisk tisk on you, Neltouda.
2351, Appologies all round then (except to Graatch)
Posted by A2 on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
And to be fair, I probably did the same thing I accused him of. I was fighting a sour mood all day yesterday and when I saw all of the responses (with Graatch's being read first to set the mood) I got upset.

In the future I'll go to greater lengths to make sure my tone is conveyed a little more clearly. I was likely posting under the assumption that for me to start an inflammatory thread is not something that happens and everyone knows that, which was obviously an error in judgment.

All I was trying to say with my initial post was, every staff member that has ran a RC I can remember has followed a format of posting on this board about it and I was genuinely curious if there was some kind of snag because I hadn't seen a post. I do appreciate the time it takes to do a RC and the staff that are willing to commit that time to run them.
