A Muddy Pass
The high peaks of the mountain rise to the north, and in all other
directions the mud and muck beneath your feet continues. The echoes of
small rocks falling from the rises above you foretell possible motion,
but nothing can be seen. The ground at your feet is a tangle of muck
and mud. Littered about the ground, half buried in the muck, are
partially rotted corpses and bits of rusted and broken arms and armor.
Kneeling, as if praying silently, is the body of a dwarven warrior,
surrounded by the mutilated corpses of orcs and goblins. A putrid stench
rises from the morass and fills the air with its acrid smell. This pass
travels to the east and south, as well as the west, and far in the
distance in either direction you can see faint wisps of smoke rising.
