Since I wasn't able to post it in game, for your reading pleasure. This week I interview Kwoalewei Mathai the Eye of the Scarab and one of the oldest living beings in Thera. Herald - So... I admittedly know little of your religion. Kwoalewei - What do you wish to know? Herald - Can you tell me the basic premise, as you see it? Kwoalewei - Religion is a...complicated thing. Kwoalewei - The Truth lay there, before our eyes... Kwoalewei - One must simply awaken to see it. Kwoalewei - To do so is to realize that morality is enslavement. Kwoalewei - To do so is to realize...one can be beyond the very definitions of such things that make others weak. Kwoalewei - To do so...is to overcome all boundaries. To rise above the commoners... Kwoalewei - To destroy that part of one's Self, that part of this world, that would cloud us in impurities. Kwoalewei - To rise to one's potential...at any cost, yes. Herald - And are you inclined to spread this belief to others, or is it merely on a whim to do so? In other words, without morality, do you still care that others find the Truth? Kwoalewei - I am a simple messenger of the Truth, magus. Kwoalewei - It is not on a whim... Kwoalewei - Rather, to be here to guide those whom awaken, perhaps. To show them to way. Herald - So, we talked some about the cult, what of yourself? Kwoalewei - What do you wish to know of me? Herald - Tell me about how you came to be what you are now? Kwoalewei - I was born...with a gift. Herald - What kind of gift? Kwoalewei - A gift for necromancy. Herald - Really? All of the rumours I've heard have indicated a rather different vocation. Kwoalewei - I rose quickly...too quickly. Herald - How so? Kwoalewei - I attempted to become a Lich before I was truly prepared...it nearly killed me. Herald - I see. Kwoalewei - The only way to survive was to...destroy my own mind. Kwoalewei - Thus in a way, I was born anew. Even those memories were destroyed...mostly. Herald - But then, how are we here speaking today? Kwoalewei - The power of magic, yes. Kwoalewei - That one can create oneself...to manifest the essence of the Will. Herald - Interesting indeed!' Kwoalewei - I was...different. Kwoalewei - More as you see me now...a master of a new art. The art of mind and body. Kwoalewei - And so I have proceeded... Kwoalewei - I am ancient, magus. Kwoalewei - My story is long and rich. Herald - Did you find the cult or did the cult find you? Kwoalewei - Suffice it to say, my mind was a clean slate... Kwoalewei - And thus I crafted myself to be as strong as I could become... Kwoalewei - My old self...had left notes. Guidance, as it were... Kwoalewei - I find the way. For I am a creature of logic, first and foremost... Herald - So it is as if you are your own parent? Kwoalewei - I am my own creator...my own destroyer, yes. Kwoalewei - If you wish to see it that way. Kwoalewei - I encountered Quarisa in my early years. Kwoalewei - Neither of us expected, though we did desire...to raise the Temple again. Kwoalewei - The rest, as you would say, is history. Herald - Can you tell me anything about being the Eye of the Scarab? For example, what does it entail and how did you become such? Kwoalewei - It entailed a great deal of studies... Kwoalewei - Ritual purification... Kwoalewei - Research...but ultimately it is a matter of...vision. Kwoalewei - One must learn to see clearly the Truth. To see beyond all else that is impure. Kwoalewei - To prove that, to be watchful...to see to it the gaze of the Father is pervasive...and relentless. Kwoalewei - Perhaps the Father believes I see clearly. I shall not speak for Him. Herald - How is the relationship between him and his followers formed? It appears to me to be different than a normal religion. Kwoalewei - One must first find their Self. To see that clearly, in a way...it is to deny all else. Kwoalewei - Even Him. Kwoalewei - Only then may you return to Him and truly see. Kwoalewei - He has shown The Way. The Sacraa you hold in your Lyceum...it is that history. Herald - I see. Any final comments to our readers? Kwoalewei - I have a few additional thoughts, yes... At this point the Eye of the Scarab decided he would keep those thoughts for the future, so look forward to more at some later time! Please look forward to more issues of the Herald Weekly with more interviews and other short stories as we can get them! Nibabizo, Scribe of the Heralds
